Marvel Comics games are finally free from EA!

Good news for the followers of Marvel in videogames.

Seems that finally, EA gave up the license of Marvel in videogaming during the development of a new fighting game featuring the well known characters of the franchise.

January 28, 2008 - It was just last summer that Electronic Arts and Marvel announced plans to create a new fighting game franchise featuring a roster of characters from Marvel's stable. EA was developing the first entry in the series, but that studio was closed in November. The future of the Marvel fighting game was uncertain.

Today Marvel Interactive confirmed its deal with EA has been terminated.

"Electronic Arts and Marvel have jointly agreed to discontinue development of Marvel fighting games under the Electronic Arts brand," said Justin Lombros, VP of Marvel Interactive. "This was a business decision based on Electronic Arts portfolio strategy and will not affect Marvel's ongoing plans to release fighting games based on the Marvel properties in the future."

Marvel apparently intends to continue pursuing its character-based fighting game, although it hasn't revealed any more about what developers/publishers might be involved.

CAPCOM, GET THE FUCKING LICENSE AGAIN AND DO MVC3!!!!

Or we could see even more bizarre crossovers like Daredevil May Cry and Ghosts Riders'n'Green Goblins.

I agree, MvsC3 isn't probable. And if so, it'd be in 3-D.

if they'd make a 2D MvsC3 it would probably be released on PSP or DS, since thats where 2D gaming has been banished too.
(apparently the 2D generation likes playing games on a very small screen?)

I'm looking at you Sony, with your damn "no 2D on the ps2" thing.

Or its being moved to psn or xbl. It seems like they only work on them in their spare time, these days. *continues to wait for ssf2:remix :?

Just make Marvel vs Capcom 3 with a "no jazz" soundtrack and be done with it.

Then again, anyone could make it simply in Mugen if they wanted to.. *hides*

QFT

as much as i luv jazz music, the selection done in MvC2 made me think invariable in a pr0n film. Specially the player select track was like...

Ugh...

I mean, i've heard real hot jazz tracks in many gaming music (thinking in Arashi no Saxophone 2 or Cool Jam from the KOF series makes me hard and wet at the same time), but the one in MvC2 was like... bleh, specially that annoying singer.
